ASOS Circular Design Guidebook

ASOS Circular Design Guidebook
-
As a designer, thinking about a product's lifecycle is a key part of the design process. Not only do designers have to think about the form of the product, its functionality and how to make it commercial, but also (most importantly) how it impacts the planet.

"Circular design is about creating products and services that no longer have a lifecycle with a beginning, a middle and an end. The purpose is to design products that can “be made to be made again"." - Tim Brow, IDEO CEO.

When ASOS approached me about a Circular Design Guidebook they had written with the Centre for Sustainable Fashion, London College of Fashion, University of the Arts, London), I jumped at the opportunity to get involved.

The brief was clear: design an interactive guidebook written by ASOS and CSF, that makes it easy for industry professionals and sustainability enthusiasts to navigate and choose their own path in their circular journey.

I went ahead and designed the guide from cover to cover, including the graphics, iconography and interactive elements that make the guide almost feel like a website within a pdf. It was also important to make the guide as inclusive as possible, so non-interactive and printed guidebooks were created too for those who don't have access to Adobe Acrobat's interactive capabilities.

It was a challenging task trying to make a 112-page document as easy as possible to read and navigate, but a challenge that I loved.

You can download the interative guide here (and please make sure you download it and open it on Adobe Acrobat as the interactive elements won't work properly on your web browser) and the non-interactive guide here.

I will be sharing more of my design work that I created for this guide soon, but for now, you can see a snapshot of the interactive guide below.
